Henry Ford, the American businessman, once said ‘If you think you can or you think you can’t, either way you’re right.’ And it’s the belief that you can achieve anything by ‘programming’ your mind for success’ that drives UCan Training.
As I put pen to paper, trying to capture the right words to say at my Dad’s funeral next week, it’s made me think about the word legacy. What does legacy mean? Webster's dictionary defines legacy as, “anything handed down from the past, as from an ancestor or predecessor.”
How many of us spend time thinking about our legacy? What we are doing on a day-to-day basis that is having an impact on those around us? What legacy are we creating for our organisations and the people we serve?
What is my Dad’s legacy? Words such as ‘the finest gentleman I ever knew’, ‘one in a million’; ‘a man to be proud of who bequeathed a legacy of kindness and care for others’; my Dad has certainly left his mark.

The last Power of You programme, an early career coaching and training leadership development programme aimed at young female talent, begins on 6th November.
With research showing that the most successful companies are those that have a mix of men and women on the board, there has never been a better time to start training the female talent of the future.
The programme gives individuals the skills to confidently communicate with people at all levels, influence decisions, set achievable goals and develop meaningful business networks. But the most important ingredient is that the programme unlocks self-belief and gives women the confidence to map out a career plan, and successfully apply for top-level jobs.
"The Power of You course is the most enjoyable and beneficial course I have attended in my career to date. I came away from each session with a new perspective on areas I previously found challenging. The course has had a very positive impact on me both professionally and personally. I would thoroughly recommend the Power of You to anybody who wants to increase their potential in a beautiful setting and supportive environment." Sarah Frost, Project Manager at Honda Financial Services
The core programme comprises a maximum of six participants from a range of industries, although it can also take groups from one company. The three-day format, structured over three-months, allows individuals to foster new relationships and start to build their network.
"Sharon created a safe environment for the group to openly discuss and share our experiences, helping us to identify issues and problems and giving us techniques to combat these issues. I came away from the training feeling a lot more confident about myself and my abilities, and feel I can continue being a successful woman in Technology. I would really recommend this training to women across industries!" Jessica Taylor, Senior HCM Consultant at Oracle
Dates for the last programme in its current format are: 6th November, 4th December and 22nd January 2018. For more information and details of the next Power of You programme: www.ucantraining.com email@example.com 01252 792811 ... See MoreSee Less
Last Friday I lost a very precious person in my life, my father. A charming, funny, generous man who enjoyed life to the full. Nothing was too much trouble, he always went the extra mile, putting others needs before his own. With a warm smile and a kind word, he was loved by many. I will miss him dearly but feel blessed to have had such a wonderful role model. Thank you Dad. ... See MoreSee Less
